Roger Moehlman, 96, of Brenham, TX formerly of Caldwell and Pasadena, TX went to be with his Lord on February 3, 2012.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2pm, with visitation beginning at 12 noon at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.  Burial will be in Bryan City Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of nine years, Shirley Klaus Moehlman; daughter, Lou Anne and Husband Dale Sinor; son, Lewis Moehlman; five grandsons; nine great-grandchildren; stepdaughter, Elizabeth and husband Robert Nelson; stepson, Timothy and wife Alice Klaus; two step granddaughters and two step great-granddaughters.  He is also survived by one brother, David and wife Jean Moehlman; sister-in-law, Rosalie Moehlman and numerous nieces, nephews and good friends.

Funeral services for Edwin Henry Moravec, 84, of Somerville are set for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 5, 2012 at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Lyons with Rev. John Boydston and Rev. Virgil Pecht officiating.  Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery .  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Saturday and from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Sunday at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville .  Mr. Moravec was killed in an automobile accident Thursday, February 2, 2012 in Burleson County .  

Ed, as he was known to everyone,  was born February 13, 1927 in Caldwell, the son of Frank and Milady (Ondrasek) Moravec.  He was baptized in the Snook Brethren Church and confirmed in the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Lyons .   

He was married to the love of his life, Floy Bentke, on September 10, 1949 at Lyons Evangelical United Church of Christ.  They enjoyed 62 years of marriage.

Edwin worked at the Santa Fe Treating Plant in Somerville for 45 years.  He started off working as a water boy, earning a mere 40cents an hour in 1944.  He worked various jobs, firing boilers, night watchman, panel machine operator, saw mill operator, crane operator, and he retired as a lift truck operator.  There was not much out at the treating plant that he did not operate during his 45 years of employment.  He retired on February 28, 1989 .  He was blessed with many years of retirement.  

Edwin enjoyed ranching and taking care of his livestock, calf roping and horseback riding, fishing, hunting and spending time with his wife and family.  Ed never met a “stranger”.  His motto for life was:  “I’m going to          LIVE ‘till I die”.  Edwin lived his life serving others, he served on the Board of the Lyons Evangelical United Church of Christ for many years, at the same time he worked with the youth of the Church.  He held an office on the Lyons Water Board for 30 years and volunteered, along with his wife, at Burleson-St. Joseph Manor Nursing Home every Friday doing whatever he could to help the senior citizens there.  He is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Lydia Moravec and Mildred Plant; his brothers, Anton Moravec and Ernest Moravec.  

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Floy Moravec of Somerville; his daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Walter Brode of Somerville; two grandsons, Ashley Tood and his wife, Denise Brode of Burton and Byron Chase and his wife, Kelly Brode of Cedar Park; four great-grandchildren, John Walter and Jacob Matthew Brode of Burton and Abigail Riley and Tyler Reed Brode of Cedar Park; his sisters, Gladys West of Bryan and Martha Jones of Eddy; brothers, Franklin Moravec of Carlsbad, California and George Moravec of Somerville; his sister-in-law, Gladys Schroeder of Brenham along with a number of nieces and nephews.  The family has requested that memorials be made to Evangelical United Church of Christ, P. O. Box 440 , Lyons , TX 77863 ,  in memory of Edwin H. Moravec.

Sherry Ann Barbisch of Houston and Bellville, Texas; went to be with her Lord on January 31, 2012.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Andy Barbisch and her father, Dreabon Copeland.  She is survived by her three sons: Bart, his wife Angela and their two children: Amanda and Zach. Brett, his wife Tammy, and their five children: Dillon, Avery, Braden, Casey and Keaton. And Brad, his wife Lisa, and their three children: Lucy, Linus, and Levi.  Her Mother: Shirley Mae Copeland, Her siblings: Becky Dunn, Rhonda and her husband Frank Gracely, Pam and her husband Ray McGill,  Jeff Copeland and his wife Susanne.  

Family visitation will be Friday, February 3, from 6-8 p.m. at George Lewis Funeral Home in Houston. The service will be Saturday at 10:00, Reception to follow, with a private graveside service.

Clenwood Heins, 81, of Brenham, passed away January 30, 2012 in Scott and White Hospital in Brenham.

Survivors include his wife, Lydia Ann (Mayer) Heins; sons and daughters-in-law, Curtis (Bubba) and Billie Heins, and Greg (Tank) and Susan Nienstedt; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and James Brod, daughters Charlene "Tuttie" Stiewert, Beverly Bennett, Glenda Heins and Tricia Zwahr; grandchildren:  Tanya and Trenton Sander, Tabitha Lucherk, Trena Lucherk, Thana and Doug Powledge, Kie and Casey Lucherk, Matt Brod, April and Jacob Oliver, Emily Brod, Jason Stiewert, Vance Baker, and Lucy Nienstedt; 14 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law Hugo and Faye Heins; brother-in-law Franklin Eckert; sister and brother-in-law Perlie and Weldon Klaus, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.  The family also remembers special friends Leroy and Erlene Simms.

Cle Bernice Borchardt Eickhoff, 84 of Brenham and the widow of Wilbert W. Eickhoff, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2012 in Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Glenn Albert Bentke, 68, of Brenham, husband of Dorothy Bentke, passed away January 27, 2012 in Scott and White Hospital in Brenham. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. , Monday, January 30, 2012 in St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill, with Pastors David Hansen and Virgil Pecht officiating. Lillie Tiemann Ahrens, 94, passed away January 25, 2012 in Hudson Creek Nursing Home in Bryan . Lillie was born to Willie and Annie Mellnar on December 29, 1917 in Granger, Texas . She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith, and attended schools in Austin Co. where she grew up.  

Lillie married Harry Ahrens on November 14, 1937 . She was a homemaker and along with Harry, she was involved in farming and ranching. Together they were owners of Harry’s Market in Brenham for many years. Lillie enjoyed working with the Brenham Maifest, making costumes for over 20 years. She was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church, as well as the Sons of Herman. Hobbies included dancing, playing cards, dominoes, gardening, and cooking. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, her husband, Harry, and brothers and sisters-in-law August and Alicia Tiemann, Lester and Eleanora Tiemann, Adolph and Freda Tiemann, Edgar and Virginia Tiemann, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law E. O. Mikeska, William and Christine Ahrens, Ervin and Guernell Ahrens, Lee and Henrietta Ahrens, Lillie and John Spreen, Hilda and Ben Tegeler, Charles Winkelmann, Laverna and John Vash.  

Survivors include her sister, Esther Tiemann Mikeska of Brenham; son and daughter-in-law Donald and Florence Ahrens; grandson Dr. Craig Ahrens and wife Vickie of Flower Mound; granddaughter Tammy Canterbury and husband Charles of Richmond; great-granddaughter Kristen Canterbury and great-grandsons Kyle Canterbury and Matthew Ahrens; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Mary Winkelmann, Alice Rust, Helen and Herbert Niensteadt, Mildred and Steve Franklin, Herman and Joyce Ahrens, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.

Alice Landgraf of Brenham the widow of Eddie Landgraf  died in the Gezebo Terrace Nursing Center Saturday morning.   

She is survived by sons and daughter-in-law;  Dennis Landgraf of Dallas, Dr. Kenneth and Judy Landgraf of Brenham,  brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws; Lonnie and Leona Landgraf of Brenham, Alfred and Ivyle Landgraf of Pasadena, 5 Grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Alice Marie Holle of Brenham passed away Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Gazebo Terrace at the age of 88 years.

Alice Marie was born to Herman E. and Catherine (Johnson) Schleider in Houston on July 25, 1923. She was baptized October 14, 1923 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church by Rev. Arthur Hartmann and confirmed March 21, 1937 at Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Houston by Rev. Donald Eloder. On October 16, 1942 she was united in marriage to Fred Raymond Holle at Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville by Rev. J. Fred Mgebroff. For many years, Alice Marie was employed as a clerk in the Washington County Tax Appraisal District Office. She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham at the time of her death.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Catherine Schleider, spouse Fred Raymond Holle, infant son Fred Holle, brother and sister-in-law Herb and Bernice Schleider and granddaughter Stacie Mehrens.

Her loving family survives: daughters and sons-in-law Janie and R.J. "Tiny" Mehrens, Dr. Barbara Doleshal, Sedonia and G.R. Powell, Carrie and Roger Gaskamp; son and daughter-in-law William H. "Billy" and Karen Holle; former son-in-law and his wife, Les and Virginia Doleshal; sister and brother-in-law Marge and John Darrah; grandchildren Jay and Misty Mehrens, Holly and Brian Boeker, Lindsay and Viggo Wichmann, Zachary Doleshal and fiancée Brandy Guntel, Hondo Powell, Haley Powell, Clay and Kristina Gaskamp, Lucas and Megan Gaskamp, Cullen Holle and special friend Kelsey Hutchins, and Will Holle; great-grandchildren Sara Mehrens, Cody and Trenten Boeker, Henry Wichmann, Cameron and Carson Gaskamp.

Luther Paul  Utesch, age 88 of Brenham, passed away at his home Tuesday, January 17, 2012 .
He worked 52 years for the Brenham Wholesale Grocery Warehouse Company where he served as President and CEO.    

Mr. Utesch is survived by: Dorothy, his wife of 65 years; their two daughters and families, Cassandra and Bill Ehlert of Brenham, Karen and Bruce Boardman of Driftwood, TX; grandchildren, Mary Ehlert, Cole Ehlert, Brittany Hedland and husband Jessi, and  Matthew Boardman and wife Amanda.

Ryan Alan Lorenz, age 26, formerly of Brenham and presently residing in Collin County, Texas , was tragically taken from us on Monday, January 16, 2012 .

Emma Jean Moehlmann Roese, 79, of Brenham, widow of Melvin Roese, passed away January 15, 2012 in St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan .  

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Don Andrew; beloved granddaughter, Courtney Sommers and fiancé Carl Thomas and his daughter, Alexis Thomas,  all of Brenham; brothers and sisters-in-law Clarence and Shirley Ann Moehlmann, Jones and Lois Moehlmann, and Leroy and Shirley Jean Moehlmann, and special friend, Mike Ortiz, all of Brenham; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Herman and Alpha Joe Roese of Leander; Dorothy Roese, and Franklin Roese, both of Houston; granddogs: Max, Rose, Elvis, Bella, and Beau. Johnnie E. Kramer, 91, of Brenham passed away Thursday, January 12, 2012 in College Station Medical Center.

Dorothy Mae (Gerke) Moon, 80, widow of Charles M. Moon, Jr., died January 12, 2012 in St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan . Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. , Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Memorial Oaks Chapel, with Pastor W. L. Rouse     officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery . Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel.    

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Terry Moon of Angleton; her father, August Pahmiyer of Brenham; brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Annie Gerke of Austin, and brother, Clarence Gerke of Brenham; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Lou and Paul Kenjura, and Janet and Paul Barnett, all of Brenham; grandchildren: Rhonda and Clint Hudson and Ronnie and Leslie Moon; great-grandchildren: Tyler and Dylan Moon and Cash and Trey Dawson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a sister-in-law, Janet Gerke, and two infant sisters.

Doris Grabow Chervenka age 95 of Brenham passed away Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Scott & White Hospital in Brenham.  

Her family includes: children, Lydia Grabow McCroskey (Cross key) and husband John McCroskey of Brenham, Bonnie Grabow Sutton and husband Rob Sutton, III of The Woodlands, Frederick John Grabow and wife Cheryl Grabow of Jacksonville, Texas, Becky Grabow Pool and husband Howard Pool of Lexington, Texas; step-daughter, Vivian Chervenka Leedy of Brenham; grandchildren, Robert Sutton, IV, Geoffrey Sutton, Johnny Grabow, Robert (Bobby) Grabow and wife Brandi, Colbert (Colby) Grabow, Suzanne Turner and spouse Joe Olivares, William Turner and fiance Lynde Roesler (pr Ray slur), Emily Turner and fiance Eric Roegner (pr Reg ner) ; step-grandson, Austin Leedy; great grandchildren, Braeden Grabow, Micah Grabow; step-great grandchildren, Kirsten Olivares, Payton Roegner; sister, Gerry Siptak: brother, Colbert Drgac (pr Dur gotch); nieces, Pam Siptak Smith, Diane Grabow Adams, Dani Drgac DeChiara (De She aira); nephew, Jay Drgac.  

Visitation with the Doris Grabow Chervenka family will be Tuesday, January 10th from 6 to 8 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel.  Funeral services for Doris Grabow Chervenka will be Wednesday, January 11th at 2 o’clock p.m. in St. Paul ’s Evangelical Lutheran Church , with Rev. Phil Fenton officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery Memorials may be given to St. Paul ’s Lutheran Church Radio Ministry Fund.
